The Gaslighting of True Trinitarians

The term gaslighting is defined in the dictionary like this:

gaslighting. noun: psychological manipulation of a person usually over an extended period of time that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories and typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one's emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpetrator.

Jesus said that those who worship God must worship him in Truth (John 4:24). We believe not only in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, but in the unity that binds them together, a tri-unity. Such faith makes us Trinitarians.

We worship God in Truth. Because we worship God in Truth, we are like Abel. Because we are like Abel, the people who do not worship God in Truth, hate us. They are jealous. They often express that jealously through gaslighting.

People like us will cope with mistreatment, rejection, and attacks on a personal level, but might not be aware of the long-term collective gaslighting that has been occurring. They are unaware that they are victims of a 1,500 year-old scam. Since approximately 427 AD, generation after generation of Christians who affirm the Truth that the Father is the One God have been made to feel as if we were heretics--while all along, those who make us feel that way are the actual heretics.

The Scam

The gaslighters base their twisted version of God on the doctrines of a man, Augustine of Hippo. Around 427 AD he published a book De Trinitate that said “The Trinity is God” meaning this: Not the Father, but the Father with Jesus and the Holy Spirit together, the Three, were the One God. That was the second time in Church history anyone had proposed a God who was Three-in-One. The first to try it was a man named Sabellius who was excommunication from the Church around 220 AD for what was called "modalism" (believing that the One God took three different "modes.") No Church father during the first four centuries ever tolerated such heresy.

The Church fathers, articulated in the Nicene (325) and Constantinople (381) creeds faith in One God, the Father. Although the gaslighters accuse those who hold this original position a heresy, and although they are backed by institutional power, we keep fighting. Theirs is not the power of the Holy Spirit. Their authority stems from the Roman Emperors who bankrolled the clergy (priests, monks, and bishops) and who gave them the opportunity to rake in huge benefits--men who became conspicuously wealthy late in the fourth century.

Although from 325 onward, Church councils increasingly functioned under imperial authority, and by 381 the the Church had become the official religious arm of the Roman Empire, the increased wealth of the clergy became very notable in the decade of the 370s. Through their newfound financial wealth, they became the new powerbrokers, and thus, they were empowered to oppress anyone who worshipped God in Truth. That's when their collective gaslighting started. They directed their mistreatment to a group, us.

Not Victimhood, But Victory

Far be it from us to seek pity or to try to make people to feel sorry for us. Rather, as Paul says,

… we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint (Romans 5:3-5).

The scam has only made us stronger. It has decreased our commitment to this World and increased our commitment to the Kingdom. As it says in Romans 5 (above), our suffering has generated hope. We will not be disappointed in the reward Jesus has for us.

Although the “Triune God” scam has made obtaining employment impossible for the pastors who profess that the One God is the Father, we have more work than anyone. Although we have been blacklisted from every denomination, and we can’t get a position in any church, we have unlimited ministry. We have so much to say about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong (2 Corinthians 12:10).

We will delight in the gaslighting. We won’t act like victims. Although a Christian who affirms “the One God is the Father” will not be welcome in any denominational leadership, and he won’t be allowed to affiliate with a school, a seminary, or an agency; we’re already in churches everywhere. We might be “weak” professionally in the face of Catholic, Protestant, or Evangelical organizations, but we’re strong in our affirmation of the most basic Truth of Christianity—that there is One God, the Father.

FIRM's Role

Jehovah’s Witness, Unitarian, and Messianic pastors also affirm that there is One God, the Father, but we will not integrate with them. In good conscience, we could never recur to their organizations. Respectively, those three groups deny the Holy Spirit, the divinity of Christ, and the New Covenant. In addition, like the Pseudo-Trinitarians, those groups have plenty of other scams.

FIRM is our support group, our fellowship. We support Christian ministries led by men who (a) preach the fundamentals, (b) cultivate healthy integration, and who (c) teach the Realities. Our pastors are true to the Bible and original Christianity--they owe nothing to the ecclesiastical powerbrokers. We also support the men and women who are teachers, administrators, psychologists, counselors, trainers, and coaches who refuse to bend their knees to the pressure of the Pseudo-Trinitarians.

FIRM supports the Christian who has “faith in God” (Hebrews 6:1) as a foundation. We support Christian who will “hallow” the Father’s name as Jesus taught in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9). We’ll stand with the pastors who boldly recognize the Father as the One God (Ephesians 4:6).

FIRM supports those who know God and who teach him. We support those who refuse to relegate God to the category of mystery. We support the missionaries, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and chaplains who are confronting the biggest heresy in Church history—the denial that the Father is the One God. To cover their heresy, the gaslighters have tried to make us seem like the heretics, mainly by stealing our name from us: Trinitarians. But they won't get far.

The Truths of the Bible, and the Church fathers, and even the name "Trinitarian" belong to us, not to them.

Ten Sins

Consider the degree of gaslighting our opponents use against us. Consider how their words and actions constitute the worst scam in history. Review the list below and contemplate their level of sinfulness.

Start with the fact that they are not Trinitarians. They call themselves Trinitarians, but they deny the four tenets of Trinitarianism. That's why we call them "Pseudo-Trinitarians." Actually, for ease of speech, Pseudos works best.

We, on the other hand are the Original Trinitarians. They use the brand of Trinitarianism Augustine of Hippo concocted in 427 AD, and which caught steam during the Middle Ages. We lay claim to the Bible and at least 33 of the Church fathers, up to the fifth century.

Now, let’s go over a list of their ten worst sins:

1. The Pseudos do not have the love of God. They refuse to hire or place pastors who confess the One God and Father, blackballing them so that those men lose their livelihood and their families go hungry.

2. The Pseudos conceal the Truth. By locking Trinitarian pastors out of the pulpit and acting as gatekeepers of fellowship, they hide the biblical identity of God from their own congregations and stifle sincere questions.

3. They have participated in gaslighting on a monumental scale. Since the fifth century the Pseudos have systematically portrayed the original Trinitarians as the heretics while presenting themselves as the guardians of orthodoxy—the exact reverse of reality.

4. They deny a fundamental doctrine of Christianity. They reject the elementary and non-negotiable doctrine of “faith in God” (Hebrews 6:1) by refusing to confess the Father as the One God.

5. They deny the Supreme Reality. They deny the culminating truth of Ephesians 4:4–6—that there is “One God and Father who is above all, through all, and in all.”

6. The Pseudo-Trinitarians corrupted the Bible. They forced a fabricated verse (“the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are One”) into the printed Greek text in 1522, a reading that never existed in the original Greek or in Jerome’s Vulgate, in order to make the Three appear to be the One God.

7. The Pseudos have replaced Truth with heresy. They call themselves Trinitarians while teaching the opposite of what the original Trinitarians believed, denying the Father his place as the One God and substituting their own “Godhead” for him.

8. The Pseudos twist history to bolster their legitimacy. They claim identification with Tertullian and Athanasius even though both men taught the One God is the Father and even though these men, along with every other Church father, would be barred from every Pseudo pulpit today.

9. A Pseudo deceives with his vocabulary. They deliberately redefine Biblical words such as deity, mystery, and godhood; twist the Church fathers' term Trinity; and impose philosophical terminology like essence and person on Christians.

10. The Pseudo leaders are lazy. They refuse to define their Triune God, hide behind the claim that God is a mystery, and will not do the hard work of teaching how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit actually relate and work together.
